A Project Manager can change numerous key characteristics for a project using the Project Settings panel.
The toggle switch displayed next to a setting can be either Enabled or Disabled (grey).
General
- Default policy for new custom environments - From the drop-down, select the environment policy that will be assigned to this project by default.
- Accept project invitations automatically (for existing users) - When enabled, any time an existing CloudShare user is invited to this project, they will be added to the project without the need to approve the invitation. Note that a first-time CloudShare user will still need to approve the invitation.
- Enable wallpaper display in RDP/Enable setting themes in RDP/Enable font smoothing in RDP - These options allow you to control some of the characteristics for connections via a Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client.
Class Setup
- Send email to instructor when assigned to a class - When enabled, a user will automatically be notified by email whenever they are assigned as an instructor for a class in this project.
- Enable setting location per class - This option allows each class in this project to be assigned its own unique location.
- Enable setting maximum number of students per class - This option allows the size of a class in this project to be limited to the number of students set for that class.
- Enable permitting non-registered student access to class - This option allows a Project Manager to control whether a class in this project can be attended by non-registered students. When disabled, the option to allow non-registered students to attend will not be available for any class in the project. Note: This option and its sub-options can be changed only when the Enable setting maximum number of students per class option is enabled.
- Force registered students to complete registration - This option requires that all users complete the registration form before having access to a class in this project. This will also apply to users who have been pre-registered in the students list.
- Allow non-registered students read-only access - This option prevents non-registered users from changing any elements or adding any data to a class in this project.
- Require non-registered student to enter Company Name/Require non-registered student to enter Phone Number/Require non-registered student to enter Address/Require non-registered student to enter Job Level/Require non-registered student to enter Registration Code - These options determine the precise information a non-registered user must provide in order to get access to a class in this project.
- Enable Single-Sign-On (SSO) as a class authentication option - A Project Manager uses this option to permit the creation of class-level SSO connections in this project. When enabled, this option will provide sub-options that allow selection of one or more pre-configured SSO providers. Note: This option is displayed only if the Account Manager has set up SSO connections at the account level.
Collaboration Tools
- Enable students to send assistance requests to the instructors - This option permits a user to request instructor assistance directly from their Class Viewer in this project. When disabled, the user will not see any options to request assistance.
- Enable chat feature in class - This option permits the use of real-time chats between participants of a class in this project.
- Enable instructor(s) to take over a student environment - This option allows an instructor to use the Take Over feature to view and control the VMs of a selected student during a class in this project.
- Enable instructors to share their Cloud Folders with all students in class - This option permits the use of cloud folders with a class in this project. When disabled, a Cloud Folders button will not be displayed by a Class Viewer in this project.
Class Authorization
- Set default blocklist rules - When enabled, this option activates the user blocking rules that are specified below for all classes in the project. The rules defined here will not override any blocklist rules that have been specified for a specific class.
- Block students with free email domains - This option blocks any user who registers with a 'public' email domain (e.g., gmail.com).
- Define specific blocklist rules - Enter one or more blocking rules. You can use any of the following: an email address from a standard business domain, a specific domain (e.g., cloudshare.com), or a regular expression – replace any domain section or part by inserting an asterisk ‘*’ sign (e.g., *.cloudshare.*)
Configuring the Default Resume Type
To configure the resume type at the project level, select a project to open its Details page and select Settings.
Here you will find the option to configure the default resume type for new blueprints and snapshots.
Under Default resume type for New Blueprints & Snapshots, you can select one of the following settings from the dropdown list:
- Resume With Memory - VMs will be powered off, and when resumed, will power back on without RAM state.
- Resume Without Memory - VMs will suspend and resume with RAM state.
The resume type set at the project level will apply to all machines in blueprints and environments created under that project. For existing projects, Resume With Memory will remain the default state, but for any new projects created after September 1, 2024, Resume Without Memory will be set as the default.
Viewing Default States in a Blueprint
To check the default state of the machines within a specific blueprint, open a blueprint’s Details page.
The Default resume type during Blueprint creation field will display whether the state is set to Resume With Memory or Resume Without Memory.
All machines generated from this blueprint will inherit the default resume type unless a specific VM state is assigned to individual machines.
See Resume Settings for more information on editing the resume type and boot order at the environment level.
