Typically, you will want to customize one or more specific Viewer options for a VM in your environment.
Click the tab for a VM (or the Settings option in the tab quick menu) to show all of its editable options at the right:
You can edit the following Viewer settings for a VM.
- Name: Set the name of the VM tab as seen within the experience. By default, the VM machine name is used.
- Sound and Display settings:
- Default RDP Sound Configuration: (Windows VMs only) Sets the default sound playing capability over RDP. Choose from the following:
- Disabled. No sound is played.
- Enabled. When software on the VM uses the sound card, sound is played in the Viewer.
- Enabled with High Quality. When software on the VM uses the sound card, sound is played in the Viewer with higher quality.
Note: If you do not see this feature for a Windows VM, contact your CloudShare Account Manager, who can enable it.
- Default RDP Color Depth Configuration: (Windows VMs only) Sets the color bit depth for the RDP connection. Choose from:
- Default: Uses the setting configured within the OS (typically 32 bits).
- 8, 16 or 32-bit: Forces the RDP connection to use the selected bit depth.
Note: Higher bit depths give the user a greater color palette, but increase the bandwidth used for the remote connection.
- Default RDP Sound Configuration: (Windows VMs only) Sets the default sound playing capability over RDP. Choose from the following:
- Allow RDP: Set to ON to allow users to connect to the VM via RDP. For SaaS VMs, this is set to ON and cannot be set to OFF.
- Allow VNC: Set to ON to allow users to connect to the VM via VNC. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Allow Console: Set to ON to allow users to connect to the VM via Console. For SaaS VMs, this is set to ON and cannot be set to OFF.
- Allow RDP10: (Windows VMs only) Set to ON to allow users to connect to a Windows VM via RDP10 (used in the RDP Booster feature). For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
Note: If you do not see this feature for a Windows VM, contact your CloudShare Account Manager, who can enable it.
- Allow SSH: (Linux VMs only) Set to ON to allow users to connect to the VM via SSH. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- OS Credentials Visible: Set to ON to display the VM's OS credentials in the Viewer or OFF to hide them. The credentials are shown in the Connection Details section of the viewer control pane when the VM's tab is selected. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Show the "Send Windows key" button: Set OFF to hide the "Send Windows key" button from the action panel. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Show the "Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete" button: Set OFF to hide the "Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete" button from the action panel. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Show the "Download RDP File" button: Set OFF to hide the "Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete" button from the action panel. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Show the "Connection Details" sidebar section: Set OFF to hide the Connection Details section from the action panel. For SaaS VMs, this is set to OFF and cannot be set to ON.
- Start tab in full screen: When set to ON, the tab opens initially in full-screen mode when selected. Once the tab is open, users can toggle between regular and full screen mode as usual. If the user navigates away from the tab and back again, the tab opens again in full screen.
- Hide Machine From VM List: When toggled ON, the VM does not appear on the VM List page.
SaaS Template VMs Settings
Several advanced customization options are available specifically for SaaS Template VMs:
- Customize the name of the SaaS Template tab in the list of tabs. Click on its name to overwrite it. This is the tab name users will select in the Viewer in order to access the SaaS application.
- Assign the URL for your SaaS application, or, if needed, the environment machine address if you’re using another VM in the environment to host your SaaS application.
Important: This step is essential since it determines where and how users are directed to your SaaS application. You can define a dynamic URL by selecting and appending formatting variables to the field.
- Assign the Instructor URL for your SaaS application. By default, the Same as the participants URL checkbox is activated. However, if you are using formatting variables to make that URL a dynamic field (as shown above), you should activate the Set a different URL for the instructor checkbox and enter a static URL that will be dedicated for use by the Experience Manager only.
- Click Save to save your customizations.
