Managing Snapshot Regions

Snapshot regions are the specific data center locations where environment snapshots are stored, providing data redundancy, performance optimization, and compliance with storage regulations. 

To navigate snapshot regions:

  1. Click Infrastructure and then click the Snapshot Regions tab from the left menu.
  2. Select the snapshot you would like to view or search for it by region, blueprint, project, or status. 
  3. Click on the snapshot name. This takes you to the Snapshot Details page, where you can view details and perform actions such as renaming the snapshot, setting the snapshot as default, deleting the snapshot, or generating a permalink. You can also click the links below to show all of the snapshots in this blueprint or all of the snapshot’s regions. 
  4. Once you have multiple regions enabled on your project, you will see the Copy to Region button on the Snapshot Regions page.

Copying a Snapshot to Another Region

You can also copy a snapshot from the US data center to another region.

To copy a snapshot to another region:

  1. Go to the Snapshot Regions page. This page displays snapshots and shows which region each snapshot is on. 
  2. Select the snapshot you want to copy, by selecting its checkbox.
  3. Click Copy to Region.
  4. Under Copy to this region, select one region that you want to copy the snapshot to.

  1. Click Copy. The copy operation begins. A row for the new, copied snapshot is added to the Snapshot Regions grid. 

The copy process takes some time and the status is displayed in the Status column. For a short time until the copy starts, the status is displayed as Pending. You can cancel the copy process by clicking the Cancel link next to the Pending status.

Transferring snapshots to multiple data centers is based on a global queue system, shared with all CloudShare customers.  It operates on a first in, first out basis, so your transfer could stay in a pending status until it begins. We suggest taking this variable transfer time into account during your environment development and snapshot process. 

Removing a Snapshot From a Region

To remove a snapshot from a region:

  1. Select the snapshot and click Remove from Region.
  2. Click Remove to confirm. The snapshot is removed.
