Note: Imported VMs are only available in the Miami region.
One of the most important capabilities of CloudShare is enabling you to import your existing virtual machines (VMs) exactly as they are, so that you can continue working with them and use it as a baseline to create new environments.
CloudShare provides methods for importing your own VM definitions. Upon import, a prepared template of your VM is ready to be used in any CloudShare environment.
CloudShare provides both an automatic, wizard-based VM import process as well as a manual VM import process.
A successful VM import process results in the creation of a CloudShare template that replicates the VM in every way. You can modify or duplicate this snapshot as needed, to take complete advantage of CloudShare's virtual lab features
Basic VM Import Workflow
Using the VM Import wizard, the process uses the following steps:
- Prepare connectivity.
- Prepare the VM image.
- Import the VM OVF.
- Upload the VM disk files.
- Adjust the new snapshot.
The manual import process follows a similar process, but also provides additional import flexibility, if required.
