The Share feature lets you share your own environments and end user environments with other project members for collaboration. You can let other project members modify environments, take snapshots, create new environments based on yours, or simply view your environment.
Each project member can share the member's own environment or an end user environment with:
- All project members
- Specific project members by explicitly assigning contributors to their environment.
Two types of member (contributor) permissions are provided for selection:
- Basic - Can see the environments shared with them, power on/off the environment, and remotely access the environment's VMs (RDP, Console, SSH).
- Advanced (can only be set by Project Manager or Team Manager roles) - Includes all privileges of basic mode. Can also take snapshots, invite other contributors to the environment, and view other contributors.
Assigning Members (Contributors)
- Click the Infrastructure button.
- Click the Environments List tab from the left menu and select the relevant environment. Note that the environment must be active.
- Click the ellipsis
menu icon on the right of the Environment Details page and select the Share Environment option, as shown below:
The following is displayed:
- Select All project members to share the environment with all project members, or select Specific members of the project to explicitly share the environment with one or more project members.
- If you selected the Specific members of the project field, start typing the email addresses of the project users you want to share the environment with, and select the auto-complete options that appear below.
Note: In order to assign a project user, the user must be an active project member.- Project Managers and Team Managers can select between Basic and Advanced contributor modes (as explained earlier in this article).
- In the Notify By Email field, you can enter default email text to be sent to the members with whom the environment is shared or customize the email message.
- Click the Share Environment button in the bottom right of the drawer to save the environment sharing settings.
Note: You can unassign a project user by clicking the Share button and the x icon to the right of the user, and clicking the Done button.
