Introduction
To open the Zoom In view, select the Zoom In option in the three-dot menu in the top right corner of a participant's thumbnail.
The Zoom In view opens the selected participant’s environment in a larger browser tab for more focused monitoring and additional collaboration and environment control options.
An example of using this view is when a participant encounters a problem and contacts the instructor via chat. The instructor can then open the Zoom In view, take control of that participant’s environment, and show them what to do, or the instructor can fix it themselves.
To view multiple participants in a single zoomed-in window, select multiple participants in the User List and then choose the Zoom In option from one of the three-dot menus.

Select the Info option at the top of the side menu to display the participant’s details. Editing may be available depending on your permissions.
Chats
Select the Chats option in the side menu to display a chats pane for messaging with the instructor.
Analytics
Select the Analytics option at the top of the side menu to display the analytics of this participant’s experience. The information is presented in the following tabs:
- Participation Tab: Displays an overview of this participant’s activity, with charts that track attendance trends and show the geographic distribution of participants, such as participation timelines.
- Collaboration Tab: Displays the participant’s interactions, including peer-to-peer collaboration and communication with the instructor through chat messages or Assist Me requests.
- Performance Tab: Shows the participant’s progress within the Guided Journey or Multi-step, indicating which steps have been started, completed, passed, or failed. This allows instructors to evaluate the participant’s progress and provide targeted support if needed.
The data updates in real time as the participant continues working in the environment.
See Analytics for more information.
Participant(s) Tabs in the Zoom In View
To view a single participant in the Zoom In view, select a single participant in the User List and then select the Zoom In option from the three-dot menu. When a single participant is displayed in the Zoom In view, their name is displayed at the top of the view.
To view multiple participants in a single zoomed-in window, select multiple participants in the User List and then choose the Zoom In option from a three-dot menu.
When multiple participants are displayed in the Zoom In view, the name of each of these participants appears as a tab along the top of the window, as shown below.
Instructors can toggle between participants by clicking on their name tab, switching instantly between each zoomed-in view. This provides a convenient way to manage multiple participants within a single viewer without opening separate windows.
Clicking the plus (+) icon to the right of the participant tabs enables the addition of other participants to the view in an additional tab for that participant. This allows instructors to expand the set of participants they are monitoring and move between them as needed.
The Info, Chats, Analytics, and External Resources options in the left-side menu always apply to the currently selected participant, meaning the one whose tab is selected at the top of the screen.
Switching a VM While Sharing
When the Share with Participants option is active, the Take Over option is unavailable. When broadcasting, only a single VM can be shared at a time for any shared environment. If the instructor wishes to share a different VM, the following steps are needed:
- From the Zoom In screen for the shared participant, open the three-dot
menu and click Stop Sharing.
- Click the Take Over option to navigate to the specific participant's VM you want to share.
- Re-share the participant environment.
Note: Do not refresh or close the browser window when sharing is active. This will close the shared connection, and the share will need to be recreated by the instructor.Note: When an instructor shares a participant VM, the share is always focused on the VM that is active at the time sharing begins. Even if the instructor switches from one VM to another while sharing is active, the shared VM will not change.Note: Participants in the session can quickly navigate between all currently shared VMs by clicking on the desired browser tab.Actions – Zoom In View
The Zoom In view has an Actions menu that provides a variety of additional options. The options that appear in the Actions menu vary according to the VM or content currently being viewed by the participant.
Click the button to display a menu of options. For example, as shown below:
The following describes some of the menu options that may appear:
Reconnect: Re-establishes the instructor’s session with the participant’s virtual machine (VM) if the session was interrupted or disconnected.
Fullscreen: Enlarges the VM window to fill the entire browser screen, improving visibility while assisting or observing. Provides the same functionality that an instructor has in a regular (not Fullscreen) view. See Fullscreen View for more information.
Take Over: Allows the instructor to assume control of the participant’s virtual machine.
- This is commonly used when a participant reaches out through chat with an issue, such as a technical error or difficulty using a tool.
- From the Zoom In view, the instructor selects Take Over, selects the desired VM, and then clicks Enable Input to gain control.
- The participant observes the instructor’s actions in real time, which is ideal for walk-throughs or troubleshooting.
- This action requires participant consent and only becomes available if Share with Participant is not active.
Share with Participant: Broadcasts the screen of the currently selected user tab (whether it is an instructor’s or a participant’s VM) to all users in the experience or to a specific user as described below. This is particularly useful when the instructor wants to demonstrate something to the entire group or for a live demonstration of how to solve a task, allowing the instructor to share what they’re doing with others. The following displays:
- The instructor can select to share with All Participants or a Specific Participant. If the Specific Participant option is selected, the following displays, enabling the selection of a specific participant.
- The broadcast opens in a new browser tab on the receiving participant’s screen. The selected participant must confirm the broadcast before it begins.
- While sharing is active:
- Only a single VM can be shared per environment.
- Multiple VMs can be shared of different participants in parallel.
- The VM that is shared remains displayed to participants even if the instructor switches to a different VM.
- Participants can navigate to different shared VMs by selecting the relevant shared browser tab in their Participant Viewer.
- To stop sharing a VM, from the VM dropdown menu, select Stop Sharing Machine from the three-dot
menu.
Enable Input: Grants the instructor full keyboard and mouse control of the selected VM (used in combination with the Take Over option).
Hide Overlay Title: Hides the participant’s name and top overlay bar to reduce distractions, particularly useful when presenting or screen sharing.
Stop Sharing (only visible when active): Ends an active VM broadcast. Instructors must stop sharing before switching to a different VM or taking control of the environment.
