Clicking the ellipsis menu icon on the right of the Environment Details page displays a menu of options for managing the environment, as follows:
Note: The options in the dropdown menu vary depending on the environment’s state.
The following is a full list of the dropdown menu options.
Change Policy
Displays the following popup window in which the policy of this environment can be changed.
The policy change takes effect immediately after clicking the Change Policy button.
A project manager can edit an existing policy, with the following limitations:
- The policy cannot currently be assigned to an active environment.
- If the policy is assigned to an environment, you can only change the value of the Inactivity Handling field. If the assigned environment is currently running, this change will be applied to extend the current inactivity time (not shorten it). Any new environment or new instance will reflect the new Inactivity Handling time value specified in the change.
See Extending an Environment / Changing the Policy for more information.
Manage Domains
The Manage Domains option opens a drawer where you can add or edit domains for this environment. Use this option to add VMs to a Windows domain in the environment and save the updated domain configuration in CloudShare.
Note: Domains must be configured in the operating system before adding them here.
See Manage Domains for more information.
Share Environment
The Share Environment option enables you to grant selected contributors access to an environment and define their permissions as Basic or Advanced. The following drawer is displayed:
Each project member can share their own environment or an end user environment with:
- All project members
- Specific project members by explicitly assigning contributors to their environment.
Two types of access permissions can be awarded:
- Basic: Can see the environments shared with them, power on/off the environment, suspend/resume the environment and remotely access the environment's VMs (RDP, Console, SSH).
- Advanced (can only be set by Project Manager or Team Manager roles): Includes all privileges of basic mode. Can also take snapshots, collaborate, invite other contributors to the environment, and view other contributors.
See Sharing an Environment for more information.
Resume Settings
The Resume Settings option enables the configuration of the VM state and boot order at the environment level.
See Resume Settings for more information.
Export VMs
The Export VMs option enables you to export and download your individual VMs and entire environments directly to your cloud folder. The exported VM file is created from the snapshot stored for this environment. Only snapshots that exist in the selected region can be exported.
The resulting OVF files can then be imported to your local Virtual Center. For more information, see Preparing a VM Image.
See Exporting VMs for more information.
Hide Activity
The Hide Activity option hides the Environment Activity Progress Bar from the bottom of the page. Hiding the activity bar only removes it from view. It does not stop the activity.
Archive
Archiving disables user access to the environment but maintains its storage lease, as defined by the current environment policy. During storage time, the environment will be archived. This environment can be viewed and/or used again by extending the environment. After the environment storage time expires, the environment is automatically deleted.
See Archiving an Environment for more information.
Delete Environment
The Delete Environment option enables the permanent removal of an environment that is no longer needed, helping clear unused resources from CloudShare. After an environment is deleted, it is completely removed from CloudShare and cannot be restored. The following is displayed:
See Deleting an Environment for more information.
