When an experience has Competitive Experience Mode enabled, the Experience Management page gains several squad-specific tools: a squad filter, squad assignment during user import, and squad indicators in the participant grid.
Filtering Participants by Squad
A new Squad filter is available in the filter bar. Select Red Squad or Blue Squad from the dropdown to show only participants assigned to that squad.
Assigning Participants to a Squad
When adding participants:
- Click + Add Users and select Student.
- In the Add Students dialog, fill in each student's details as usual.
-
For each student, use the new Assign to Squad dropdown to choose Red Squad or Blue Squad.
- To add more participants, click Add Another — each row has its own independent squad selection.
- Click Save to submit participant entries.
Note: Squad assignment can't be changed once the session starts. To move a participant to a different squad later, remove them and re-add them with the correct squad.A confirmation toast appears once participants are added (e.g., "3 students added successfully"), and the squad summary counts update immediately.
Viewing Squad Assignments in the Participant Grid
A new Squad column appears in the participant grid, between Role and Invitation, showing each participant's squad as a colored badge. Instructors and Main Instructors show a dash (—) in this column, since instructors aren't assigned to squads.
Importing Squad Assignments via CSV
The CSV import template used for adding participants in bulk now includes a Squad column, after FirstName, LastName, and Email. Accepted values are:
- Red – assigns the participant to Red Squad
- Blue – assigns the participant to Blue Squad
If a row contains a value other than Red or Blue, it's flagged as an import error, and the affected row is called out so you can correct it. Always download the latest template from the Add Users dialog to make sure you're using the current column layout.
Editing Squad Assignments
You can change a participant's squad from the (more options) menu on their row, as long as the session hasn't started yet. Once a session has started, the Squad field becomes read-only, and the same remove-and-re-add workaround described above applies.
Squad configuration for the experience as a whole — the Competitive Experience Mode toggle, per-squad blueprint assignments, and Shared Environment settings — can be edited from the Details tab only before the experience has started, or until the experience has had at least one environment created, even if that environment is later deleted. After that point, squad configuration is locked for the life of the experience.
