Description
CloudShare provides two levels of analytics: experience-specific analytics that show what happened in a single experience, and platform-wide analytics that reveal trends and usage across an entire account.
Experience-specific Analytics
During an experience, the Main Metrics Insights Bar (at the top of the Instructor Console) provides instructors with key analytics at a glance, offering up-to-date metrics on participation, engagement, and performance across all participants in a specific experience.
After an experience session, an instructor can open the experience in the Instructor Console again to review participation and performance in more detail, identify who may need follow-up, and understand how the experience session ran overall.
Look at registrations versus actual attendance, how long participants stayed connected, whether they completed a guided journey or a multi-step flow, and how many requested help or extended their environments. Use this to answer questions such as: Did people drop out early? Did they run out of time? Were there groups of participants who struggled more than others? Based on this, the experience length, policy, instructions, instructors, or content can be adjusted before running it again.
Quick Start Steps
To access the Instructor Console, see Accessing the Instructor Console.
Platform-wide Analytics
When analytics are reviewed across the entire CloudShare platform, the focus shifts from individual environments to overall trends. Dashboards show which projects consume the most user hours, which experiences are heavily used or rarely touched, and how cost and usage evolve over time.
Resource Utilization, User Hours, Experiences and Participation, Attendance and Completion, and Cost Control dashboards help reveal where environments, blueprints, and projects are efficient and where budget or capacity is being wasted. These views highlight which projects and experiences are most active, how engaged participants are, and where training, sales demos, and infrastructure can be optimized without drilling into individual environments.
Filters and time ranges enable the comparison of months, quarters, projects, and teams, and decide what to scale up, optimize, and retire.
Quick Start Steps
To take a quick tour of the CloudShare analytics dashboards and reports:
- Select Analytics > CloudShare Dashboards and then the name of the dashboard to display.
- At the top of any dashboard or report, adjust the time range and filters so they match the period, projects, or experiences to be reviewed.
- Scan the main charts and tables to understand overall trends in usage, participation, and resource consumption.

Best Practices – Analytics and Controlling Costs
CloudShare Analytics
It is highly recommended to regularly investigate CloudShare analytics to understand how the CloudShare platform is being used.
Analytics provide visibility into what actually happens in environments and experiences and support concrete decisions about how to improve content, policies, and costs.
CloudShare provides two levels of analytics: experience-specific analytics that focus on a single experience, and platform-wide analytics that reveal trends and usage across the entire CloudShare account.
Controlling Costs
Cost control is one of the most important topics to understand in CloudShare. When managing policies, the primary cost is a User Hour, which equates to one user running an environment for one hour. A user in this context could be a blueprint builder, an instructor, a participant in a class, a customer viewing a sales enablement lab, and so on, meaning any person running a virtual environment.
Cost Control Dashboard
CloudShare’s Cost Control dashboard is designed to improve the ability to monitor and analyze the company's labs’ cost utilization, providing a unified view of quality data. The dashboard presents interactive visualizations, customizable filters, and real-time data.
User Hours Utilization Dashboard
CloudShare’s User Hours Utilization dashboard provides a detailed and comprehensive breakdown of user hours. The dashboard is designed to allow monitoring and analyzing of user hours consumption and utilization.
Cost Monitoring Alerts
After understanding policies and user hours (as described above), configure alerts, scheduled Analytics reports, and quotas within the platform to monitor resource usage and costs.
To monitor costs and resource usage in Public clouds, contact the company’s Account or Technical Account Manager.
