CloudShare enables instructors to manage participant engagement within an experience. Instructors can monitor how participants interact with the environment, including the actions they perform.
They can guide participants through chat and video broadcasts, track progress in live view, multi-step experiences, and guided journeys, and modify environments as needed. Instructors can also create and share environments to demonstrate workflows, take over a participant’s VM for teaching or troubleshooting, and review analytics to assess usage.
The Instructor Console offers real-time insights into participation, engagement, collaboration, and progress, enabling instructors to make informed decisions during a session.
The Instructor Console is accessed directly through a web browser, with no additional applications or add-ons required.
In this section, we cover the features provided for an instructor in the Instructor Console:
- Accessing the Instructor Console: Describes how instructors access the Instructor Console.
- Instructor Console Layout and Functionality: Provides an overview of the Instructor Console's user interface.
- Side Menu: Provides navigation to core areas of the Instructor Console, including Participants, Chat, Analytics and External Resources (optional), giving instructors quick access to manage users (participants and instructors), collaborate, and view performance data.
- Main Metrics Insights Bar: Shows real-time metrics at the top of the console, providing an at-a-glance view of participation, collaboration, region distribution, and performance across all participants. Metrics update automatically and are interactive, allowing instructors to jump directly to the relevant section.
- Participant Thumbnails: The main area of the page shows live thumbnails of participant environments, enabling instructors to monitor participants’ activity. From these thumbnails, instructors can see what participants are experiencing, watch their progress, collaborate with them, and perform actions.
- Zoom In View: Opens a participant’s environment in a larger, dedicated browser tab, allowing instructors to monitor or assist with issues closely. This view provides additional controls, including Take Over and Share with participants.
- Fullscreen View: Expands a participant’s environment to fill the entire browser screen and provides the same options as the Zoom In View.
- Shared Environment: Enables instructors and multiple participants to access and interact within the same virtual environment simultaneously, facilitating collaborative scenarios and group-based learning activities.
- Instructor Environments: An instructor can create their own dedicated environment directly from the Instructor Console to demonstrate workflows, troubleshoot issues, or provide a live example that participants can follow in real time.
For an overview of each component in the Instructor Console, see Instructor Console Layout and Functionality.
Managing an Experience
The following describes a complete lifecycle of how an instructor handles an experience session using the CloudShare Instructor Console:
- Before an Experience Session: Prepare the experience, add users (instructors and participants) and send invitations.
- During an Experience Session: Instructors use the Instructor Console to perform a wide range of actions, guiding, teaching, demonstrating, monitoring, and assisting participants in real-time (Instructor-led) or asynchronously (Self-paced).
- After an Experience Session: Review analytics and assess participant participation.
